Hey folks! I know it's been a while since I've last posted anything but I'll try my best to be more active again
So the start of the new year wasn't exactly a great one. My grandmother gave me the car so that I now have transportation, but that also mean that I had to pay for the title transfer on top of all of the expensive school stuff. The cost was more than I had at the time so thee was a lot of financial struggle. School has also been a pain financially and time wise. I was originally going to do this "limited access" Graphic Design program for a bachelor's degree at my University, but it was too time consuming and I really didn't want to spend hours on end making logos and stuff. It was taking away from my illustration time because they all teach graphic design as if the student will be prepared to be a full time designer. Which I do not plan to be since I LOVE illustration (as you all know). So I plan on taking some of the classes I actually want like web design and typography so that I can have the knowledge of how to do these things. I'll also be taking the classes at a local jr college because it's a HELL of a lot cheaper and I don't have to pay $3 for parking everyday I'm there.
I can afford to do this because I already have an associate's degree (which is the minimum requirement for most illustration jobs). During the time I first got the Dynamic Figure Drawing book I was on a roll. My figures were looking more dynamic, constructing the figure came easier to me, and everything was great. But when all this crap started I ended up not being able to practice and now I feel like my powers have been stripped away from me. So now that I've dropped that class I have some to to draw. So I'm trying to get back to that level of familiarity that I was at back then.
Now for the good! I had a commission I started on in December last year from a friend of a friend who wanted me to draw a comic for him. It was about him, his girlfriend, and her daughter as superheroes with a surprise twist at the ending. You can read it here:
www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi…After his girlfriend read it, he proposed to her and she said yes! So being a big part of that special occasion for someone I've never met was a huge honor. Even though I wasn't 100% satisfied with how the comic looked because of time constraints, the impact it had on this guy and his new fiance's life made up for that. Especially since he thought it looked amazing lol. So that's a another reason why I want to work as an illustrator besides being paid to do what I like.
In other news my great friend
is trying to start up a print publishing company in our city via One Spark. One Spark is a festival we have here in Jacksonville Fl, where folks present their ideas, projects, and proposals and compete for a chance to win a butt load of money to get it started. This is a more detailed explanation of how this works:
www.beonespark.com/aboutSo yeah, she wants to start a print publishing company for the artists here so that we can have a better chance of being discovered. And as a support group to artists who at risk of losing their artistic talent due to lack of motivation. This is the promo video:

So here is the facebook page for the group (which is right now mainly for her art). Please do stop by and give it a
That's all for now! I'm off to dreamland
